Eccentricity transform determines the geodesic distance to the point within the shape that is furthest away from it for each pixel. Until now only binary images have been considered. In this paper we extend the idea of eccentricity transform to gray-scale images. The method is based on geodesic distance transforms for gray-scale images, particularly gray weighted distance transforms (GWDT).
