How to write a thesis

What is the Master's Thesis?

The Master's Thesis is the completion of the Master studies and serves as a proof of compentece to cope with scientific topics independetly, as well as justifiably with regard to content, and systematically. For more information, please read the document prepared by W. G. Kropatsch and W. Purgathofer.

Master's Thesis

Please follow the recommandation of the Faculty of Informatics when you are writing your thesis, and preparing your poster presentation.

Bachelor Thesis

A collection of bachelor thesis will be published every term as a technical report. In order for the collection to look coherent we ask you to follow the procedure below:

  • Use PRIP Bachelor LaTeX template to write the thesis,
  • Put all relevant data that are necessary for the production of the thesis and the final presentation in PRIPBachelor folder in your PRIP home account. This folder should contain files like LaTeX source files, images, tables, databanks, software, presentation, etc, and a README.txt file describing what is in this folder.
  • After your thesis is accepted by the supervisor, please send the final version of the thesis as a PDF without page numbers at pripbachelor{at}prip{dot}tuwien dot ac dot at

The collection of the technical reports will be published at the end of Oktober (summer term issue) and at the end of March (winter term issue).

Seminar and Practical Works

A collection of seminar and practical works will be published every term as a technical report. In order for the collection to look coherent we ask you to follow the procedure below:

  • Use PRIP Bachelor LaTeX template to write the thesis,
  • After your work is accepted by the supervisor, please send the final version of the thesis as a PDF without page numbers at pripbachelor{at}prip{dot}tuwien dot ac dot at

PRIP Technical Report

Please use PRIP TR LaTeX style to produce you technical report. After you have finished the process of writting please ask priptr {at} prip {dot} tuwien dot ac dot at for a technical report number. Your technical report with the number should be sent to priptr {at}prip{dot}tuwien dot ac dot at for a publication to our technical report repository. You can find these collections at our library.
