SCOPE

VSMM09 - IAPR International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia aims at bringing together researchers in the fieldsof Computer Vision, Multimedia Technologies, Cultural Heritage, Image Processing, Image Analysis and Pattern Recognition an the Digital Documentation/Preservation in Cultural Heritage.

The conference addresses recent advances in theory, methodologies and applications. VSMM09 focuses on interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research concerning both Cultural Heritage and Computer Science and the use of new technologies for representation, documentation, preservation, archiving and communication of CH knowledge. The scope includes every phase of CH information technology: Initial Data Capture/Digitization, Information/Data Processing, Reconstruction, Visualization and Documentation.

The scientific program includes workshops, invited speakers and fully refereed contributions that are published in the IEEEconference proceedings.

PAPER SUBMISSION


Authors are invited to submit full papers showing original research contributions. The conference proceedings will be published as IEEE Conference Proceedings. Only electronic submission in pdf format will be accepted through the conference paper submission web page. Each paper will be blind-reviewed by at least three members of the programcommittee, and will be accepted based on its originality, significance and clarity. Papers should describe original and unpublished work on the topics of the conference, must be written in English, and the length should not exceed 6 pages in IEEE double column, single space format (including figures and tables). In addition to traditional conference paper and workshop proposals, VSMM09 encourages innovative submissions including movies, interactive or immersive designs and simulations, theater, and installations. In this case a submission of a one page summary/abstract is mandatory, abstracts will be published in a separate book of abstracts proceeding.
Authors may elect to send abstracts or presentation proposals only. These submissions will be selected on their suitability and quality by the program committee and included in the book of abstracts.

WORKSHOP PROPOSAL


Proposals for workshops are welcome, there is the option that all papers of the workshop will go through the normal review processor they are published in the Book of Abstracts only (no peer reviewing).
The proposed workshops must include a title, information on the scope, contact information for the workshop chair(s) and their short bio's and a list of authors already contacted or to be contacted and peer reviewed/unreviewed option.

Proposals should be submitted to the workshop chairs no later than April 7, 2009  April 28, 2009.
